Linda Foshee
assumed the role of lay minister to Our Home Universalist Unitarian
Congregation in 1999, and to Liberty Universalist Church
(Louisville, MS), in 1997. A native Mississippian, she received the
Bachelor of Music Education degree from The
University of Southern Mississippi (USM) in Hattiesburg,
MS, and taught elementary music for ten years in the public schools
of Mississippi. She served for twenty-eight years as Administrative
Secretary to the Director of the School of Music at USM. She
retired in May of 2003.
A
third-generation Universalist, Linda has been involved with worship
for more than twenty-five years. She presented a workshop on
Universalism in the Mid-South District at the Unitarian Universalist
2000 General Assembly, sponsored by the Mid-South District and
Murray Grove Retreat and Conference Center. A frequent guest
speaker at churches within the Mid-South District, Linda served for
several years as mentor to the Unitarian Universalist Church of the
Shoals, Florence, AL. She was chosen in 1986 by the Mississippi
Religious Leadership Conference as one of twelve women in the state
to be honored for significant contributions to the religious
community. She was a 1999 nominee for the Mid-South District
“Unsung UU Award."
Linda is
married to Jamie Foshee, retired band director who now serves as
Director of Music Education Services for Mississippi Music,
Inc. Ethical vegetarians, they are both concerned with the
welfare of animals and share their home with strays who need
TLC.
